How do you "dial in" a load?

    Yes, this thread is a year old... but... I'm working up loads for a 44mag rifle, and found this thread handy again...
    This was a timely reminder. I had some terrible loads, and the "best" is about 2". The effective range of the rifle is maybe 150-160 yards, and its only used for deer hunting, and only used a fraction of the 10 days of gun season (maybe 5-6). I can keep tinkering and looking for better, but really, it's a break-action - it's not a benchrest gun. 2" is about all I can wring out so far (load testing is about 1/2 done). Point being, you're right, perspective is important, and not every rifle is MOA or sub-MOA.
