    How do i convert 8mm Mauser to .308..

    do i need any special fitting in the magazine..

    take it the gunsmith and tell him you want a 308.

    Your going to need a new barrel and more then likely the bolt face is going to need replaced or the enitre bolt body will need to be replaced so that the bolt face is the proper size of .473".....

    All you need to do is rebarrel it. The boltface is already the correct size of .473. Your gunsmith MAY need to modify it (magazine) for the slightly shorter cartridge but I doubt it.

    Wait till you price a new barrel!! Keep the 8mm and buy a 308

    New single point cut rifleing barrel should be about +/- $275.00

    Brownells has short chambered .308 barrels, in the white, for $83.00. I don't recall who makes them for Brownells. It's not a Brux or Krieger, but for $83.00plus finish reaming, why not?
