Question for all you trained long range shooters, I'm just a local hard case that watches long range hunting shows too much, any tips, tricks, what have you's for reading the wind? I got an accurate drop chart to 600 yards so far, I think my elevation is accurate. No matter what it said, iPhone app said, I could not hit my target at 700 yards the other day. Had about a 3 mph wind were I was, but it was shifting a lot. I use a Caldwell wind meter. Heard about watching the grass/plants to see if it's the same as your location, still nothing. I will admit, not a lot of movement with corn stubble. Just need better optics? Us poor boys have a hard time buying high quality optics, should we save our pennies and bite the bullet? More practice? Any help would be great.
