I have a dpms sportical and it's not pushing my bolt back far enough to pick the next round out of the magazine, I've cleaned it and checked my buffer and spring but after two rounds or so it just stops feeding rounds from the mag. I've even changed mags to see if I had bad springs in them but no dice any suggestions?

What ammo are you using?? what magazines?? have you done other mods to the gun?? is it new?? Didyou buy it from someone used??

There is no setting to change in a di gas system. If its been converted to piston convert it back to di and your problems will vanish

Pics of the gun at the barrel end where it hits the receiver and at the gasblock end near the muzzle both sides with the handguards off would help

Pmc fmj ammo, magpul pmag mags, bought her new. I'll post the pix soon and I'm still running gas tube no piston. I was thinking a hydraulic buffer would help but haven't tried yet

Did you clean it when you got it?? newguns need to be cleaned to removing shipping/storage preservatives then lubed with a quality lubricant. I use 30w synthetic motor oil.

If that doesnt cure it it needs to go back to the manufacturer. Pmc is generally loaded to max and sometimes beyound. Its pretty hot ammo. So ammo shouldnt be the issue.

PMC has a rep as a little puny, and may cause short cycling in a new/tight
gun. Try some Federal FMJ before you do anything else. If the Federal
works, the PMC will probably be fine after a few hundred rounds.

Grab a box of Federal, load ONE round in mag, cycle into chamber, fire.
    Bolt lock back? Done.

Short cycling. Most of the time it's gas system

Loose carrier key on the BCG.
Mis-aligned gas block---partially blocking the barrel hole
Mis-aligned gas tube where it hits the carrier key
Piston rings on the bolt head with the gaps lined up
Gunk in the gas tube. Flush it, blow it out, get some of those
l-o-n-g pipe cleaner thingies to run through it.

Last time I had short stroke issues in an AR, it was resolved with a heavier buffer. YMMV.
