    Should I use 2 3/4 in shells if a shotgun says 3" ? The gun is an older New England pardoner single shot.

    Yes, they are safe. The 3" indicates the longest shell that can be used in that gauge.

    if your shooting 2 3/4 be sure to clean the chamber before using 3" the fouling from the shorter shells can cause rough extraction or even stuck shells if its bad enough.

    but generally non issue
