My new FLGS, and I say "new" since I just moved to the UP, has a 1980 High Standard Sport King .22 in the counter in good condition for $400. What do the kind folks of FTF think of that gun and that price?

Very nice pistols. There were 4 different models. They came with 2 interchangable bbls. Unless they have both barrels, would maybe offer $350 cash. $400 is not screamingly unreasonable if in good condition.

It has the 6.75" barrel on it, I didn't ask about interchangeables. What size was the other barrel?

EDIT: I noticed that the current High Standard site has a Limited Edition Sport King listed, so obviously these aren't made any more. What were the years of the production run?

There are 4 models of the Sport-king, going back to 1951...from Connecticut...Houston is a different animal, IMHO

a 1980 would be the Third Model which started in 1974, don't have the discontinued date in my book...hrm...

1st Model is 1951-58
2nd model is 1958-1970, don't know why there was a 4-year gap...

also a Lightweight aluminium alloy version made from 1954-65
