Here's mine a Savage Model 19 NRA. Will shoot 1/2" groups at 100 yards. It was built in the 30's as fas as I can find out.

I just put the scope on it tonight. Hope it don't rain tomarrow so I can sight it in. Still trying to get use to the tube feed. everything I ever shot had a mag. It will also shoot shorts but I haven't tried them yet.

Just don't frakenstien it out into a
" black" rifle, small adjustments if needed but original would better seeing how it was your grandfathers. Jmo.

Nothing at all wrong with black rifles I just know if I had one of my grandfathers guns then I like to leave it just as I remembered it.

Right now, that's actually a "GOOD" thing! About the only Ammo I see on Walley World's Ammo Shelves nowadays, are .22 Shorts, and plenty of them!

The scope is the only thing I'm adding for that reason. After I get my handgun I'm looking at a 10/22 to Frankenstein.

That's the only .22 I can find in my area to. When I got thru the 1225 rounds of 22lr I have I'll try the shorts.
