    You're going to have to be more specific.

    One that meets your states caliber laws and goes bang and puts rounds inside a 2" circle at 100 yards.

    What and where are you hunting? What range of shots do you typically have, 50 yards or 300 yards? We need details!

    Since it i such a short range a 25-06 and up should do the job just fine. I would personally use the .270, .308 or the .30-06.

    You want help? First, try to refrain from pissing everybody in the

    universe off by abusing the world's vaguest thread title "help".

    You want to schmuck up a question like that? Fine.

    The answer is YES. WE have an idea.

    Are you getting the impression your own medicine sucks yet, OP?

    Mosin Nagant usually about $100 ammo is super cheap you might have to do a little work on it but it's pretty much a russian 308 they're older rifles.

    NATO= 7.62X51 (basiclly 308)
    Mosin= 7.62X54R

    Mathmaticly speaking there pretty close but if you don't have a ton of money its a good solution

    .270

    That was the late Jack O'Conner. I still have his book, The Complete Book of Rifles and Shotguns, first published in 1961. I am 60 now and I got the book when I was 12. When I was 16, I got my first real rifle, a .270, all because of Jack O'Conner.

    The shorter barrel from my experience does not really effect the power of the round that much, it still has plenty of power to take down deer or even hogs. Most of the accuracy depends on how good of a shot you are, I've shot a M44 and the 91/30 at 100yrds and had some good groups with both.
