my husband found an old rifle, it is very dirty, rusty ect
my question is is there a special place to find the name of a gun, and does a pantent number perhaps tell you who the manufacture might be.
is there a formula for id ing a gun

I have found a sight name marbles a pantent number 2094577

A picture of the rifle and any markings on the barrel or bolt, if applicable, would be helpful. Many of the folks here can ID most guns from that info.

If you could post a few pictures, it sure would help.

Get us some GOOD pictures. And EVERYTHING stamped onto the metal. Marble DID manufacture an unusual two barreled handgun known as the Gamegetter, HOWEVER- they manufactured a sight used on many firarms, and they are more common than the Gamegetters.

For some of us old farts around here, all we usually need is a good photo and sometimes photos of all markings.
