Out of curiosity. How many mags do you consider "enough"?

Of course not. After you have 32, you then need five more. See how this works? ;)

Are you ready for a stupid question? Please be nice.

    Why so many mags?

I totally get the idea that when the zombie hordes are trying to kick down your door, you have no time to reload an empty mag. Got it!

But assuming you are leaving your abode to...whatever...you can only carry so many mags. What, 10?

And then there's the whole mag rotation thing you'd have to keep track of.

I only wonder about the logistics of dealing with and storing so many mags. Honest question!

    Because more is better?

Actually, I think the supply of mags, ammunition and some other necessities are finite to a great degree. Who knows? They may become coin of the realm someday.

Remember the run on ammunition after the socialist in chief get elected?

    Exactly....The limitation is.....space!!

Rather have ammo the commodity of exchange than toilet paper, but that's what I'm stocking up on!! :D

CA makes a very good point. While deep down I think most of believe that the country will eventually right itself, that we won't have to go to war with our own government and that the Space Zombies will probably not invade in our lifetime......

What was that the Boy Scouts always said??

And as to why you need more of something than you think: I have a very good friend who spent 6 years with SeAL Team 3 & 5. They have a motto when it comes to gear ( aside from Shiny Kit Syndrome ) and it's quite simple.

    One is None!

Lose it, break it, equipment failure, Murphy, any of the above = you are effed. Why take the chance?

I agree JD. If one is none and two is one, we need a minimum of twice what we think we need. More is better.

It they turn out to be unnecessary, no sweat. But if things are needed, we are in the game.

    AR Mags

Thank you all for your kind support. I just could'nt help myself. There are so many good deals right now

Now if I could only find a good deal on 45 ACP, what a downer, the price on 9mm came down, even .223 came down....

I'm really depressed....I think I'll feed my depression with.........MORE AR MAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is definitely going to be my motto as I get my first aid gear put together.

But yes, ammo will definitely be a medium of currency. And if ammo is, then a mag to hold it is even better, and an AR to hold the mag even better.

So...on to collect an AR for every mag, right?

With the low prices of AR and AK magazines it's smart to have extras on hand. After all, magazines don't go bad sitting on the shelf. Don't blame you one bit for "buying cheap and stacking deep".

Besides you need something handy to store your ammo in anyway, right?! :D

Are there any problems with storing the ammunition in magazines for a prolonged period of time? Say I go out and buy ten thirty round magazines and filled em all up and just leave em be in the safe, is that a bad idea? Does it matter more or less if they are polymer magazines opposed to metal? Or is it a matter of spring strength?
