My father has a Springfield Armory Officer Size 1911 as his personal workhorse. But I have no idea what model it is. I thought initially it was a G.I. but it has a bull barrel and no U.S. grips and its not a mil spec because it has the low g.I. sights. Any ideas?

    That's why I'm thinking g.I.
But that bull barrel is throwing me off.

    Most compacts have bull barrels.

I was thinking the Champion....maybe a early version of it...I have the Champion, bull barrel, GI sights. Looks very similar to mine.
