Return rifle to owner , I can see there not much info on norinco sks.
Norinco did make a 16" "Cowboy" carbine version of the SKS. Possibly a restocked sample of this version. Any bayonet lug or is a big square lump of metal taht never got machined to take the folding bayonet?
What exactly do you mean by "pinned" mag. Is it restricted to 10 rounds or less or just a fixed mag?
It has no bayonet lug . milled . The reason I thought it is cut down is the from the second lug also milled off flat in front of the gas block is nicely but finished in a bluer finish than the rest of the barrel. Just a different color blue. . The mag is a stock pinned at the front design like the stock 10 shot mags. The 20 rounder is a "made in china" metal 20 shot thats pinned in the same way a stock 10 rounder is.
20 round version of this- http://www.ebay.com/itm/SKS-magazine-Chi-com-10rd-/321160996048
The standard 20 round Chinese mags usually work pretty good. It sounds like it was one of the Norinco shorties. They had altered or block lugs instead of the actual functioning bayonet lugs. Often these came in with a crappy thumbhole "Sporter" stock that was very blocky up front a well. An interesting variation, and most folks chucked those stocks.
I remember getting them in at the range/shop I worked at part time in the late 80's or early 90's. Back then they were right around $100 and a case of 762x39 ammo would run you another $99. They would come in as a "Cowboy", Paratrooper" or "Sport" model. That may be what the extra "S" is there to indicate.
Cool mag! Check with that site on dating and such info.
That site looks to only cover military version not comsumer sks model but i will go thru it again. Atleast if there any mention of norinco I missed it.
