    Hi,

Can anyone help me identify this gun? I have researched Joseph Golcher but would like to know who made the rest of the gun and how old might it be? A piece of the gun is missing,

    Thank you!

My gun looks different than the one in the link - more plain. No markings on the end of the barrel and the stock is not indented. I have not seen one that has a hunter shooting fowl like mine though.

    Thanks

There paper catalog is a must just like the Numrich and Dixie Gun Works and Crazy Crow Trading catalogs
Track of the Wolf - Muzzle Loading & Black Powder Guns Kits, Parts, Accoutrements, Rendezvous Gear & Primitive Americana

This is a Gloucher lock for a drum
Track of the Wolf - Percussion Lock, Rifle, Ohio - Goulcher, by R. E. Davis
The other picture is a warrented lock sold at that time some were stamped with gun makers name or left plain sold in 1840's mainly used on Ohio and Plains guns of that time.
There 51 diffrent rifle locks to pick.

MY Bad! thats a back action Lock

Track of the Wolf - Lock, Back Action right hand, percussion, by L&R

That is the only ready made back action lock Track of the Wolf sell's, they have they have lots of data to draw from and I bet they would be interested in looking at your Back action Ohio Rifle as not many of that type.
there are gunsmiths that build locks and may be able to make you a hammer from a casting
