Help ID Pre Civil War Black Powder Pistol

    I was able to purchase this at a very good deal. Looks like a .45 or larger. The Markings on this are E over an I G with a star below? If anyone knows how to ID this manufacture's mark please advise. Could be: EIG or IEG..

    It's E over LG and it's a Belgian proofmark. That particular one was in use from 1811-1892.
