Just a got a Remington 870 express I don't really know its cons and pros.
I know it will do alright since I'm not an enthusiast with shotguns.
I just want to find out some stuff and I'm sure my question may require more questions to answer it.
Well I bought for clay target shooting and home defense.
What is the spread diameter of 9 balls buckshot within a 50 yards range same question applies to the bird shot shells. Is there any table showing that in terms of distance , shell type and and the spreading diameter ? Also slugs effective range.

I did some homework but better to get the experts on the loop.

I totally appreciate very piece of information so I can take that to my kids.
    Thanks.

    Sorry missed something

It's a 12 gauge 3 inch chamber. And 18 inch diameter soft bore barrel.

There are different chokes that cause different patterns. Different ammunition patterns differently. Like winchester ammo to remington. best advice I can say is get your desired round and hit the range. In a home defense situation your not going to be shooting 50 yards. Go with 7 to 10 yards. I don't know how many ranges will let you shoot spread shots at 50 yards.
