My hair got blown back, what's left of it, sitting at the desk. Thanks, that was too cool.

That was awesome! Brute force against an incredibly challenging course. That's also some pretty darn good driving. It takes some skills to muscle a car like that at those kind of speeds.

Just as an aside, I wonder how many folks here even know about Holman Moody? ;)

Watching that beast pass the little Euro cars, I had a strangest song on loop in my head:

    Move bi**h,
    get out tha way,
    get out tha way,
    get out tha way,

    :D:D

When stationed in Germany, drove the Nurburgring once. It was fun; however, you did not want to be too excessive on the speed. Talking pics and driving was a no no!

    Overtaking on the right:
Report to the police, fine, 1-day ban

    Aggressive driving, pressuring/dangering others:
    1-day ban

Excessive speed at flagged points, endangering marshalls:
1-day ban, repeat offenders will be banned for the season

Deliberate off-roading, or failing to report dirt on the track:
    1-day ban

Repeated offenses against the camera ban:
Season ban! Note that the ban forbids on-track stills as well as video.

Deliberate carrying on with a fluid leak:
Season ban, plus charges for cleaning and track closure time

Here are the costs and scroll down to the "Record Armco bill (track damage - 15,000 pounds or $30,000" That was a car that managed to flatten a very impressive length of armco between the Quiddlebacher Hohe bridge and the crest on the approach to Flugplatz. But even a minor bump can turn into a surprisingly expensive day out.

Whadda RUSH! That was NACAR back in the day- when you could pick up a car at the showroom, drive it to the track, take the license plates off- and RACE.

I'm guessing it's that that ol'boys first trip around that place. That place is HUGE and tought to remember the break markers and stuff. and 165 mph on the straight; not bad for that old car for sure. I ran that a few years ago on a bike. It's an experiance for sure.

He was running 150 to 160 MPH! That's some moving. But then, those old cars could do that without a lot of modification. No smog controls. No speed governors. No tinfoil car bodies.
