what calibers have the same head cases?
are you talking about head case diameter? such as 30-06, 270 win, 25-06, 308 win, 243 win, 7mm-08 all have the same head case diameter as all are based off the 30-06 round.
I saw the title and had to check this thread out. Don't we mean case heads? I thought head cases were crazy people.
I think axxe55 is headed in the rite direction tho
Look at a shell holder chart.
Great idea! There are relatively few "basic cases," e.g., the .470" Mauser, which is "behind" everything from the 7x57 to the .308 family to the .30-'06, the 9x57, etc.
this would not always be true, because a shell case holder only holds by the rim diameter and some cases could have the same rim diameter, but be totally different type cases, example: one case is rimmed the other rimless. best source is a reloading guide as the rim diameter size is given plus info on class of case or parent cartridge. example: 25-06 and 338-06 have the same rim diameter as does a 243 win and a 7mm-08, because a 25-06 and the 338-06 are based off the 30-06 and the 243 and 7mm-08 are based off the 308 win, and the 308 win is based of the 30-06. part of the reason the 30-06 is nicknamed the father and grandfather of most modern calibers used today. hope this helps to explain this.
what would be the same with a 22-250?
the 22-250 has rim diameter of .473, the same as a 243win. a 308win. the 30-06. ect. but it is a 250 Savage cartridge that was necked down to a 22 caliber.
