From what I saw and tried there are a few candidates for a barrel swap starting with Glock 19, M&P, and Sw9f (which would be a most natural choice I assume). So, I was wondering if anyone ever approached the subject and what were the results.

to expand on Doc's question, what are you hoping to gain or accomplish?

what advantage do you think you are getting with only .5"?

Do wnat to thread it for a supressor? Do you plan on modifying the slide to cover it and be able to get a longer sight radius? DO you want a extra touch of velocity? Do you want to port it for recoil control?

If you want to mount a supressor, I would recommend buying a barrel made and threaded specifically for a supressor. For the expense and paperwork, and wait times you are going to incur getting a legal supressor, it is probably worth buying a barrel that is made properly for one. If theyre are no ready made barrels that are already threaded, I'd look into a different gun as my supressor host. A good supressor isgoing to be a few hundred bucks, Fees, and tax stamp for the supressor is $200, plus any extra for postage, finger print fees, passport photo fees, etc, then the wait time for approval and delivery of the tax stamp. Might as well have a worthy host for the supressor when it's all said and done. It will prevent headaches and possible baffle strikes to that time and money investment if you just do everything right up front.

By far the are three things I'm after:
    - Higher velocity
    - I wanted to toy with a muzzle in regards to recoil management in form of either ported barrel or a muzzle brake
    - And the last but not least ...
the damn thing just looks cool :) lol

Suppressor has never been in the list of things for this gun :)

well IMO, that .5" isn't going to get you much in regards to what you're looking for. velocity increase is going to be negligible, an probably not enough room to port and you are talking about a 9mm, which doesn't have hardly any recoil to begin with, so a muzzle brake would be senseless.

IMO, you're in search for solutions to problems that don't exist.

Well, if that's the case the only thing I'm left to toy with is the slide. I've read in multiple sources that lightning up the front of the slide does decrease the muzzle rise. I'm particularly referring to Chris Costa M&P slide which has ports milled on the sides and the top of the slide. Any thoughts on that? BTW, thanks for saving me $100 for a new barrel :)
