Dont know if the book is any good but scientists are getting worried. There are predictions of a severe solar storm cycle in late 2012. It could be massive enough to fry a large amount of electronics and electrical infrastructure. These predictions are not from guys wearing tin foil hats.
On another note, Geithner the Treasury Secretary is predicting a severe economic downturn.

I wouldn't spend a dime on the book, but I am doing what I can to prepare for an EMP event. I think it's just a matter of when, not if...

Well, 2012 tin foil hat clubs aside, I was looking at this book purely from a survivalist point of view. But thanks for the laughs!

Maxwell Swart makes it seem urgent, same tactic we always see as Obama and the other politicians told this country we had to have the stimulus and bailout money or the sky would fall.

    Follow the money...

If you're worried about an EMP, build some Faraday cages for your electronics, have your own source of power (Faraday cage around the generator while it's in storage, o' course) and otherwise be as self-sufficient as possible. Many people (prolly most folks on this forum) are doing just that.

The first thought that popped into my head as I was reading that was "what a load of douche-baggery!" If someone has to resort to scare tactics to get you to buy their stuff then they're not worth listening to. Do some digging on Dr. Dikpati and you'll find plenty of scientific articles, none of which shows any concern by her about December 21, 2012.
