I was visiting family and one of them brings out this rifle that I've been trying to buy or trade to for a while now.AS it was it has become a birthday present. It's a Remington 121 FieldMaster pump action 22. It'll shoot long and short 22 ammo. It's in very good shape considering it's age. WEll..Enough of this tlak. It didn;t happen with out pics.

    Beautiful.

So, I am thinking you have to slide that part in front back to load the next round, right? I have always thought of a pump action rifle as one that has a metal part underneath that you have to pull down and forward. Am I making any sense?

Anyway, I must say I don't know much about rifles but this one in particular is a beauty. I'll have to research this particular type of gun. Congratulations and have lots of fun with it.

    Thanks a lot WOC

I think you're thinking about a lever action. Yes though the action is worked just like a pump shotgun is. The forearm slides back to retrieve the next round. Look at a pump shotgun and it's pretty much the same. THis one has a serial number on it so it's not really old but I think it's a late 60's model being the serial is pretty low (5 digits). I'm not really sure of the run times of these but it's been a while. I have always like pump actions. It's really easy to get the follow up shot with one I always thought. I actually passed this very rifle up after seeing what others he had for sale that where market WAY too high. The guy that got it (Wife's uncle) looked at it nad talked the guy to 250.00. I had told him a few times I'd lvoe to have it and if he ever went to sell it I'd like a crack at it. The wood is almost perfect and the bluing is around 90-95% I have several 22's but I don't think you can have enough of them. THis one makes a wonderful addition to the collection.

Ah, yes, you are right. Lever action is what I had in mind. I like this pump action rifle. Lucky you. Have a great time with it and thank you so much for taking the moment to educate me a little more. I now hand this thread back to DrumJunkie after so rudely hijacking it.

If you ever get a chance check out a pump rifle. They are great in my opinion. I've had a few over the years and haveyet to not like any of them.

VERY nice! Enjoy that one! Had a surprise Father's Day gift from my two youngest- grandaughter took them to the shop, and led them to the Remington 550-1 I had been looking at (and you think kids don't pay attention!)

WOC- pump guns may also be called "slide action". Learn to shoot one, and it is durn near as fast as a semi. PA does not permit semi-auto rifles for deer hunting, but pumps- well sure!

Thanks everyone. Took it out for a few minutes today. Action is really smooth and it seems to be more accurate than I am. I'm more than pleased.:)
