I am new to the forum, and new to handguns. I have been hunting since I was 9 but have little experience with handguns other than plinking at random things. My Question;

1) I have been given two handguns (.22 H&R Revolver model 949, Colt MIII Trooper .357 revolver) they were given to me by my father-in-law and my father. If I transport them to and from the shooting range, what would happen if I were stopped by the police. The are not registered to me, and they were given to the givers.......

What should I do to make them mine? I don't want to loose the guns, but want to be legal.

Thanks for the advice, I talked to a state trooper and he said that I don't have to have them transferred because they were a gift from family? But he still recomends that I do, just to be safe.

All I have to do is take them to the station, and they will come out and inspect them and its done

If I don't have to register them I don't think I want to.

I'd honestly try to do as much of the process, as possible, through an FFL.
