Hey guys and gals. Have a topper 88 in 20ga. Woundering if the new synthesic stock the one with the shell holder intergrsted into it will fit this old gal. Guna use her as a survival gun for camping.

    Nice!
I like single shot shotguns and have them in 12, 20, and .410. (also looking at a Winchester single in 16 ga, might buy it)
What I do with mine is (a) leave them alone, and (b) each one has an elastic butt cuff shell holder. These hold 5 rounds. I use one designed for a rifle on my .410's that holds 9 rounds.
But, it's your gun, do as you wish.
I just wanted to give you an alternate idea.

The basic design of the Topper has not changed in a long time. I forget when, but I think the only change is that they added a transfer bar to the firing system. The stock should fit, but why not run it as is with a medium over the shoulder or belt bag, and a slip on shell holder? Maybe add a sling as well. It would cost less, and the shotgun would still be just as useful as it is now. In the small bag, in addition to shells, you could carry other survival needs as well.

My 20 ga is a Topper Junior Classic. That is the deluxe model with real walnut stock w/checkering and polished blue instead of the semi-gloss finish with a 20" barrel and shorter buttstock. Too nice to be a barn gun. My local FFL has several "already broken in" Toppers and Pardners and I think I'll put one on layaway.
I really like old singles and doubles. What i consider to be a good time is just quietly relaxing in the woods with a single shot backed up by a single action revolver. I also have three single shot rifles, a scoped 22 Hornet, a scoped 30-06, and an iron sighted 45-70.:D
Of course, it goes without saying I've been a subscriber to The Backwoodsman Magazine for 20 years now. (Not to be confused with ANY other magazine with the word Backwoods in the title);)

Took it out yesterday to shoot some sweet. I love the way it points hit 67 out of 100. Not to mention it was a balmy 100°
