I have an H&R 38s&w revolver that was given to me and i was wondering if there was any value to it? It is a top break 5 shot. On the top of it it says " PAT, MAY 14 & AUG, 6/89 APRIL 2/95 APRIL 7:96" Any info is greatly appreciated!

H&R was a maker of "basic" handguns. They worked and were reasonably priced. They made a boat load of them and they sold like hotcakes. Because the market is flooded with specimens, they to not bring big dollars like a Smith and Wesson or Colt. Yours seems to be in unusually good condition, but that will only add a few dollars to the previously mentioned $100 price tag.

Oh ok, my grandma give this gun to me so i wasnt wanting to get rid of it or anything. I just knew it was an older gun so i was just curious if it had any value. Thanks for the info.

The sentimental value of a gun having been passed down is far greater than the intrinsic ($) value in almost every case. Yours is a nice clean specimen.

Remember, this is .38 S&W, not .38 S&W special. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIRE .38 SPECIAL ammo in this gun. The .38 S&W is a much lower pressure round.

I agree 100%! I didnt think you could shoot the 38 special through it. Ive looked everywhere for that 38 s&w ammo and i cant find it. Everywhere is out of stock!
