I was just sitting here bored and the thought popped into my head about what would happen of you shot a gun in space. So I googled it and got to an article which I'll post the link for. I just thought it was sort of interesting.

You only use Ray Guns in outer space. No one would use an AK-47 on Mars. The Green Men on Mars can not be killed by bullets. Gees everyone knows that.

Can we civilians get one of these ray guns or do they fall under any other weapon? I'm planning a trip to mars and I don't know the local laws. Do they have reciprocity with Washington state?

Very cool article. Something to bring up next time somebody brings up the old "what happens when you turn on the headlights of your '73 Gremlin while cruising at light speed?" conundrum.
    Science we can actually use.

Light isn't the fastest possible speed. Its close but not quite. Einstein's theory doesn't allow for light having mass. Light particles have some mass or they would not be effected by gravity which light particles are indeed effected.

Theoretically you can go slightly faster than light but you have to have zero mass to do it.

Magnetic field rail gun. no recoil or gasses, just accellerating an iron slug as fast as you can get a feeding system to put rounds on the magnettic field.

But if you go faster than the speed of light you have infinite mass.

Light is weird. It's both a wave and a particle. So it both has mass and doesn't have mass. I wish I were smart enough to fully grasp these things.

This isn't some kind of sting operation is it? I don't need the MBATF coming after me. I hear the Martian prisons are brutal.
