I lived in downstate Illinois back in the 80's/early 90s. I learned to resent the puckering sphincter that was Chicago, and what it did to the rest of the fine state in terms of policies, taxation and political influence. A complete joke.

I am very sad to see this kind of thing happening in the Land of Lincoln. Based on what you know, does this have the votes to get to the floor and pass?

So, to recap, Illinois legislators think the same scheme for

gun control which Adolf Hitler used, right before he ripped off

and murdered 6 million Jews is a good idea.

Not a lot of history majors there, in Illinois? Because gun

registration and confiscation has always been a nation's

    precursor to a large pogrom.

What more profound and egregiously horrific act, than the disarming,

and murder of a people's citizens, by their own country?

Over 200 million souls worldwide, slaughtered like defenseless cattle,

cry out from their graves, against this worst abuse of "well-meaning "

    governmental control...

Political greed has driven these policies for a long time. Voters fear crime. Careers in government can be insured if you appear to be a crime fighter. Demonize the evil firearms and gun owners. Pass some restrictive laws that does not involve long criminal litigation. Do this for 20 years and retire with a big government check.

Unfortunately, the criminals are the only folks these laws

don't punish. If you want to appear to be a "crime

fighter" , wouldn't it be refreshing if the laws enacted

    actually fought crime?

Gun Control measures are a local and national failure. It's

been shown again and again to fail, but still the ignorant

    embrace it.

Just was introduced, but I can't fathom a chance in hell this would pass. That being said, this is Illinois.

If anyone is really interested, this is an ongoing listing ISRA maintains so people can contact their representatives and/or fill out witness slips on the pro/anti gun measures being pushed through the state at any given time. If this is your first time seeing this, this is pretty much the norm so don't freak out - we're used to it. HB 4715 is so new I don't see it on here right now.

I do not see this going anywhere. The clowns know that if they have a party no one will come.
Those folks who have gotten your IL concealed carry. You have registered to be first in line.

legislators are suggesting stupid things and, introducing stupid bills all over this country....in gun friendly states too....

and if even in Illinois they cant pass an AWB bill in this unfortunate time of democratic prowess in cook county and Springfield (the year after Newton no less), do you honestly think a gun registration bill is going to get the support it needs to pass??

Sure, its Illinois, anything is possible... right Jane Byrne?

I have to say some of the bandwagon commentary about illinois is beginning to sound like some people here just don't get to say "I told you so!" enough

I posted an article in the legal thread. Anti's are throttled up with removing citizens rights. I was listening to the Oregon committee hearings, the anti-gun, anti-rights crowd comments. Watched the video of Mr. Martinez speech and you could see it in his eyes and words he was not pleased with the committee reactions. Did not see it on the video; but, indications are, they did not care. More of a dog and pony show for the masses!

Those anti's need to wake the bloody he!! up or what happened in former Russia before becoming USSR, Germany, or China to name a few will happen here!

The Socialist "Nanny" state politics are burning out. It has been 50 years since the unwashed and over sedated protested war and embraced a communal live style. These people are now the old and dependent class. They must plead for redistribution of the wealth. They must be very careful not to bite the hand that feeds them. These old Leftest are now imprisoned by their own slothfulness.;)

People like that put out bills like this one just so they can claim they're trying to do something and look good in front of their electoral base. At least whenever something goes wrong, they can claim "oh well I tried to prevent that but the majority wouldn't let me". It's the same game they're playing at the federal level. I don't see this bill going anywhere, just someone trying to a make a point to make themselves look good.

How many times do various countries have to try gun registration and find out that it does nothing to improve public safety before these statist door knobs finally give up?

While I agree with both of you, we still need to actively oppose these bills.
I remember the '94 Assault Weapons Ban and many gun owners ignoring it
believing that it would never pass, but it did. Since then we have pushed
back the anti-gun movement, we need to keep pushing, we are winning.

    ISRA Update.

That was our experience up here. We figured: "Nah, nobody will vote for such dumb ideas." Wrong.

On a personal note, I ignored the nonsense for many years, minded my own business and continued to go to work every morning; and waited for legislators to come to their senses. And waited. And waited. And......it got worse.

I believe your words are just as important in your country as in mine - gun owners need to draw a hard line and then stand up, speak up and donate. Take no prisoners. If we do those things, we win. After all, we're already starting with a big advantage - we are profoundly right.

Make no mistake, these liberal anti gun people don't give a rats *** about crime. Their goal is and always has been the complete disarming of the population so as to be able to control any rebellion. It's the reason they want to control our health care too. It's right out of Hitlers' playbook.
