I need help! All I know about it is that it is some type of Mauser. Please help! This is urgent! It is chambered in 7.62 NATO, but I have a strong feeling it was rebored. Please help! Possible 1916 Spanish Mauser. Originally 7mm, reworked to 7.62 NATO about 1960. 7.62 NATO IS NOT .308 Winchester.

That is definitely a Spanish M1916 Mauser in 7.62x51. That particular M1916 was used by the Spanish Civil Guard (hence the 'faces' and axe, both symbols of fascism, which was what the Spanish government was at the time headed by Franco). The Spanish took their M43 and M1916 Mausers and rechambered them in 7.62 to be a "stop gap" until the CETME could be issued to all troops. The M43 Mauser was redesignated the "FR-8" and got a cosmetic makeover, making it look somewhat like a bolt action CETME, the Spanish called them "the little CETME" (it sounds cooler in Spanish, something like " el Cetemimo").
