Hi All!

Name's Ken.

My interest in firearms began when I was a child and my father was in the Army (Army Brat). When I was in Air Cadets, I was taught safe-firearm-
handling and how to shoot. When I was in the Reserves (you'd call it
our National Guard), I learned advanced weapon (automatic, etc.) handling
and firing.

That was way-back-when when I was more boy then man.

Nowadays, my wife, Signe, and I are involved in Historical Re-enacting
(Battles, etc.). My interest is the War of 1812 (we'll forget about the
Niagra Region and New Orleans if you'll forget about Washington and
Baltimore ;-)), the Zulu Wars, the North West Rebellion, and the
American Civil War. Gotta love that Smoke and Powder! We think it's
great fun.:)

Looking forward to hearing from you all,

Ken

Ken, where do they re-enact battles in the Zulu Wars? I have long been interested in the history of SA, and have read many accounts as well as the Boer War, Matable Rebellion, etc... My brother-in-law is from there....

Hi Brent,

Sorry for taking so long in getting back a reply...my wife calls me a terrible
procrastinator, and I'm guilty as Hell.

As it stands, there's a handfull of us who enjoy kitting-up in Victorian-era (1870's to 1890's) uniforms, accoutrements, and regalia to do skirmish- and
front-line firing demonstrations at rarely-held events and venues. The
participation-interest for it is very small at the present and recruiting can
be futile if not done aggressively. Incidently, would you or any others in this
forum be interested in participating?

Organizing an event like this can take over a year (there's one being planned
, so don't lose hope)and involves binders of documents (permits, etc.) and all
manner of red-tape, to say nothing of timing, location, and venue. The long-
term plan is to stage such an event up here in Western-Canada and one
down in the Central-Midwest United States on alternate years, where the
terrain and environment can be a close-approximation as possible. A 'Dream'
venue and site would be at the actual sites themselves, but that remains
just a dream at the present.

Given the current "pollitically correct" evironment that's being imposed, finding
and/or organizing an opposing-force may prove to be a challenge....and if we
have to wing it, well...so be it. ;-)

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Ken
