Grand Canyon in weather phenomenon that happens just once every DECADE

    There's a story about an old prospector, I can't remember his name now, that was grandfathered in when the GC became a Natl Park. He lived in his cabin in the park and spent his later years telling stories to the tourists around the lodge. One he was famous for was going out on days like this with a pair of snowshoes in his hands.
    He'd look over the rim and say "looks just about right. I think I'll walk over to the North Rim."
    He'd then hike down the trail a way and disappear from view.
    He'd come back in the evening and tell the folks he had a great hike and asked if they'd seen him on the other rim waving to them.
