I saw my friend off today to marine bootcamp.

This guy has been my friend since we were little ones.

He used to be called the odd man out and shunned by stupid people. That's how we got together and had some fun as kids playing water sports with squirt guns paintballs...you know the drill.

See you later Daniel. Kick some *** in boot camp my friend. I'm sure you will since you can run a mile and a half in 8 minutes 30 seconds and do 8 pull ups

    Good luck buddy.

God Speed, Daniel. Do you and your country proud. Rest assured, we are behind you.

Jiro, when you get to talk to him, tell him so.

    Good post. :D

Jiro, be sure to post a photo of him after boot.

    Yeah. He'll be back soon.

I expect him to be out on top of his class.

Your heading into the Navy and your buddy is going for Marines. Should be an interesting reunion in a few years.

Glad there are still good young men like you two.

    Best of luck to him.

One of my nephew's friends came by after going through Marine boot camp; the kid must have lost 50 pounds of blubber, very impressive. We were all wondering if his knee would hold up to the running.

One thing I hated though was the recruiter there was pissing me off. I'm already signed up for the Navy and this recruiter is trying to get me to go back on my word.

No offense to him but there is no way I'm doing marines if I can succeed in doing Nuclear power as I can use those skills in civilian life.

Send your friend my best wishes. Not everyone is up to being a Devil Dog and much respect for his choice.

Jiro when are you going to boot?

He's going to have a GOOD time!! Make sure you send him some letters, they helped me a lot when I was there. You'll see the difference when he comes back.

My sincere appreciation for the decision to serve. I've never once regretted swearing the oath myself as it's a noble calling...
