Everyday stuff that I consider worth its weight in gold and a good add to any SHTF kit or bugoutbag.

zip ties, (cable ties) various lengths & widths
    duct tape/100mph tape
    carabiners, snap clips
    rope
    wire cutters
    galvanized wire
    large zip-loc storage bags

Feel free to add to the list.

Remember the rule of three or redundancy. Always have a backup for your backup.

+1 on the medicines we need, and even contact solution, etc.

Bulgar wheat (a staple for packing. It is par boiled then dried back, so it is precooked and needs only to be rehydrated and heated by adding to boiling water or broth and then left to sit off the heat for ten or fifteen minutes)
    Bullion cubes
    Jerky
    Small packs of dried fruit
    Small packs of dried vegetables
    Small cook set
Lense wipes (the alcohol wipes double as fire starter)
    Matches
    Ammo

Some of them thermal blankets that take up hardly any space is nice. And if you have no decent shelter if you have to really get out, you will die before you run out of water and food.

    Right on!

I would add a sharpening stone. Probably not on many lists, but if you use a knife it gets dull. That means dangerous!

Something that I don't often see mentioned, but which is one of the handiest tools around: fencing pliers.

A little soap bar, packet of laundry detergent (mine does two small-med front loads or one large top load). Waterproof palm-size spiral notebook and baby pencil.
Small toothbrush and a few packets of toothpaste mentioned?
Ship's emergency rations with salt packets duct-taped on, Big 100 Meal Replacement Bars.

    Just throwing this out there.....

For all my fellow B.O.B., camping, hiking and preppers here... Check out this site if you don't know about it; http://beprepared.com/?gclid=CMqXyZS717cCFQqf4Aodfw0Avw#default
It's a supply comapany called Emergency Essentials... I've bought everything from hiking poles to headlamps to emergency ration bars from these guys and can HIGHLY recommend them.

NC1760, their sale price on Ghee is pretty good. I keep some on hand as a replacement/supplement to olive oil which has to be rotated routinely. Olive Oil only lasts a couple of years and is only affordable when it's on sale!
