I have a 300 Vortex Viper, and a Nikon Buckmaster that I got on sale for under 110 dollars. Both 3x9x40's and the Nikon is much brighter, and I like the hollow Nikon BDA reticle points better than the solid filled Vortex BDA points. If I could do it all over, I'd have saved 200 and gotten a second Nikon, and not the Viper.

Don't fret it too much. You can always upgrade later (That's when you learn more and find better prices :) )

This purchase can always be moved to your next new gun.

    Anna's choices are great.

Thats what I do, when I get a new scope, I put it on the gun that is needing one most to fill a certain requirement, and then take the existing one on that gun, and work its way down to my 22 rifle.

Back in the day a Savage 250-3000 and a Redfield Peep served them well.:)

I'm also on the hunt for a new scope. I've got my mind dead seat on a p-223. Nikon makes great scopes and If I was you I would go with the p-223, that's what I'm going with.

Bradley you don't think the parallax adjustment is needed like the m-223 has..just curious cuz that's why i can't make decision on the p or m

Leupold Mark AR Mod 1. It comes with a fire dot option or crosshairs. I have it still in the box, used it a few times, I like it. I prefer a non-magnified red dot, but when I want to get a little distance I throw this on.

I suggest the Nikon M223. I recently purchased the 4-16x42 SF and mounted on my first coyote AR. Glass is awesome, adjustments are excellent and crisp. I prefer my M223 over anything else I seen in that price range.
