I'm gonna be purchasing my 1st handgun in a couple months and my price range is about $400/$450. If anyone knows of a good handgun in that price range please do tell. I'm not interested in sub compact or concealable. Thanks
The bersa thunder in 9mm is in and under your budget. I have only heard good things. A ruger p95 would also be a good entry level pistol. http://www.ruger.com/products/p95/models.html Those are inflated prices. You can probably find a ruger p95 for 350$
Ruger's SR9 and P95, Taurus 24/7, S&W sigma, used Springfield XD, Bersa's thunder 9mm, Firestorms 9mm are the pistols that I've been looking at to get. I've read a lot of bad reviews on SIGMA'S and TAURUS'S. If anyone has had any experience or owned one of the firearms named up top please share your input. Thank you for responding though.
I've had a couple of the 24/7's with no issues and a Bersa that I really enjoy. In a lot of cases it comes down to what fits your hand and your shooting style the best. Like I said I had no problems with the 24/7 I just can't get into the poly guns no matter how hard I try.
Only one I have had bad experience with listed above is the sigma, don't get one. One excellent choice is a Rock Island 1911 9mm tactical
I owned a Taurus 24/7 G2 9mm as my first gun. Never had any issues with the gun. I put thousands of rounds in it with not a single mis fire or issue with the gun. I hear they have a life time warranty but never had to us their customer service so I can't comment on that. I eventually traded my gun for a sig mk25 but not because there was anything wrong with it.
I'll add my vote for the Bersa. The High Capacity (HC) version has 4.25" barrel & I guess would be considered full size, but the UC 9mm is not really what I'd call 'Ultra Compact' & it seems to balance in my hand a bit better. If you have large hands, you'd probably prefer the HC. The grips are actually the same size in circumference with the UC able to use the HC's 17 round mag, but it has the finger grooves in the front which gives it a different 'feel' & the HC grip is about 3/4" longer.
I too am looking for a concealable 9mm in the same price range. I am considering the Beretta Nano, S&W Shield, Diamondback DB9, and Keltec PF9. I am leaning towards the PF9 to save money and it seems to be pretty reliable.
I just bought a Ruger SR9c and love it. It would be right at the top of that price range but it fits the bill. The c is for compact version and it is concealable. If you want a full size the SR9 is also available at the same price. I have heard nothing but good stuff about them and so far I have 250 rounds through mine, Remington, Federal and Hornady ammo with no issues of any kind. Easy to clean too. I rented one at the local, range and liked it so much I had to have one.
Well look up this gun call caracal 9mm. Everyone I've seen on youtube love them. One report of 11,000 rounds in one week without cleaning no serious problems only a handful of FTF because of ammo. If you dont like it then look at s&w sd9 or a fnp 9mm. I own a glock 17 and I'll be getting a new gun soon and I can almost tell you it will be a caracal 9mm. I get a serious vibe that those are really great designs
