Anyone know of any good pistol training in Utah?
What kind of training? Basic pistol or advance techniques and what area? I heard good things about this place http://www.strategictacticalgroup.com/ but haven't trained there myself.
Yeah, I suppose it would have been good to include that information in the OP.
I'm in the Salt Lake area but I'm willing to go a little north of Salt Lake or a little south of Provo. I would like to learn proper grip for semi-auto and revolvers as well as proper stance. But I would also like some advanced tactical training that would be useful for concealed carry as well.
For the basics you can look up just about any NRA Basic pistol course. The course is designed to teach the basics of pistol marksmanship. You will learn the functions of the different kinds of handguns and ammunition. The course emphasizes firearms safety while teaching the techniques of aiming, trigger control, hold control, and stance. To get more specific training I would ask around at your LGS or state forums if someone in FTF doesn't come along to point you in the right direction for your advanced training.
So, any place that does the NRA Basic pistol should be good? I assume the course will be the same no matter where you go. As for the tactical, someone is trying to talk me into the diamond lifetime membership for Front Sight. I would certainly consider that for $250 rather than $2,000.
Yeah the NRA Basic course has the same curriculum so you should get the same training no matter who is instructing. It's hard to shell out 2K for training for me as well.
Front site is an awesome training experience from what I hear. Expensive though. Google Utah pistol training and see what comes up. Lots of good classes for under 300.
Contact your local ranges.
If your not sure, this may help:
I'm seriously considering this $250 deal. I've been researching it because it seems too good to be true, but apparently it's not.
Yeah, I did that I only got a couple of good results.
Thanks for the links. I'll have to call Impact and Get Some as those are the only ranges I've been to so far.
The guy here does the NRA basic pistol course for $150 and the Instructors course for $300 so you may want to ensure you're not looking at the instructor's course since that is for people who want to be certified to teach others the Basic course. The NRA link overkill sent has all the differences between courses.
