Now that I have my C & R what are some good companies to check out and get some good equipment? Both rifle and pistol.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program for rifles and ammo and equipment. Not allowed to sell pistols.
Thanks guys for the info for purchase of C & R firearms.
Hope its not too late for a M1 Carbine from the CMP......"G"
( I had thought you needed a Full-FFL for buys thru them )
Looks like they still have both rack and service grade available.

You don't need any ffl to buy from the CMP. The requirements are here.
No, don't misunderstand the meaning of the CMP. It's not just about high school or youth. It was instituted by TR to keep Americans ready for war.
But , don't you have to belong to a "affiliated club" to purchase rifles from the CMP ?.
Yes, but that doesn't mean a "gun club" in that sense of the word. It looks like you can join the Louisiana Shooting Association for $20 a year. That would suffice. You could also join the Garand Collectors Association for $25 a year.

Pretty easy to get the associated membership, and just think of what you'll get: an authentic US Armed Forces battle rifle. It's worth $25!
