    Howdy,
If anyone is thinking about getting a quality black powder rifle, you should look into a Westgate. A lot of people say Ross Westgate makes some of the best rifles out there.

His rifles are used by competitive shooters all over the west coast, he makes some very high quality stuff at good prices, aswell as knives and powder horns. Here's a link to his video on youtube if anyone is interested, I thought it was pretty cool...

    Enjoy, and happy shooting.

    Not spam

Its not spam, its a legitimate post, (advertisement, yes) but nobody is double posting. You and I both know that its hard to keep business going in the present day economy, especially in small towns.

I have nothing to gain from the post, its not my business... but anything to help a fellow American make a living and exercise his right to bare arms is good enough for me in my book.

There's nothing wrong with commercialism as long as it isn't malicious or intended to harm someone. I know some people look down on advertisement, but if it was your business, you'd be singing a different tune.

No hard feelings, and may God bless America.

There should be no harm in making a recommendation for a brand of firearms in the appropriate forum group. That's what took place.

If there's something more I should know, please PM me.

+100 We need more firearms manufacturers and dealers in this country! What we don't need are more self-righteous know-it-all's to dictate policy and procedure to the rest of us.

That may very well be - but it didn't happen here did it? If we were all judged by posts we made on other forums we'd all be pre-judged...wouldn't we?

    Obviously, I was mistaken.

Still, are those Westgates so much better than any of the mass produced in-line muzzleloaders? It is hard to go wrong these days with an in-line and have any accuracy problems. What makes the Westgate better than the rest?

I'm a traditionalist, I don't own an inline. To me a muzzleloader is a sidelock replica of an historical firearm. I've never agreed that they should be part of the Muzzleloading season because of the obvious advantages they offer over a traditional percussion or especially a flintlock gun.

I agree with that except I'll include the TC, Investarms, CVA Hawkens, etc. even tho they're not a copy of anything historical. They do bear some resemblance to some of the plains rifles and they are good guns with a traditional look to them.

While we're at it, I'll add the Lyman Trade and Great Plains rifles..always wanted one, but never had the money when I was younger, so all of mine were CVA or Dixie kits, with the exception of my T/C New Englander.

The Lyman GPR is about as close to a real Hawken as you can get in a reasonably priced production rifle. There's some minor differences but they'll pass muster at most voos where the TC's, CVA's, etc won't
