When it comes to pistol ammo for my 40sw Sig I would like some ideas what people are loading in there gun foe ccw.. The only one I have ever heard of was from remington called Golden Saber, was told alot of cops carry this ammo? ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS??? thanks.

Winchester PDX1 has been good for me.

I use the pdx in my hipoint c9 which is only 8 rounds but is +p rated.

Don't like using +p in my xd9sc so I just go with Remington UmC jhp.

Federal HST's are good, Winchester Rangers, or Speer Gold dots. All will get the job done. Myself, I shoot the old reliable Federal Hi-Shok. Used by law enforcement for many years. And at under $20 for a box of 50, they are cheap enough that I can afford to practice regularly with my carry load.

Ask the local PD what they carry. If its good enough for them, it's good enough for you.
Back in NY we carried Speer Gold Dots. Out here in NH, we carry Federal Hydra Shok. Either will get the job done.
I have read excellent articles about Hornady's new Critical DUTY line. Not to get confused with the Critical Defense line.
Ultimately, make sure that whatever you get will feed and fire correctly in your carry gun. I had to go with Critical Defense in my BUG since it was so picky with a typical hollow point not feeding well in the ramp.

I carried those for a while (off duty) but never had to use them. That's all I got about those.

This thread has been a plethora (have waited all week to use that word) of GOOD information. The single BEST post is advice from Brennan 16-

Hydra-Shoks, Gold Dots, Golden Sabers, Black Talons, Zombie Slayers- all of the major makers of defense/ duty ammo make good stuff. But if it does not feed in YOUR gun 100.00000% of the time....you are left holding a poorly shaped club. ABSOLUTE reliability in YOUR gun must be the first consideration. Come to think of it, it's probably the 2nd, 3rd and 4th as well.

It drives me nuts to see someone drop $700-$1000 on a carry gun, $100 for a good holster, and they are too damned cheap to run a couple of boxes of their selected carry ammo thru that gun.

I like to shoot either 147 grain federal hydra-shok's or 115 grain hornady critical defense in my Smith & Wesson 9mm. Never had any problems with those. But like I said my gun is a 9mm and it's 37 years old and not rated for +p ammo. And gets kinda fussy with cheap ammo, especially Winchester 147 grain jhp's.

C3 said it. My brother is a part time Leo and said his dept. quit using golden sabers because of their tendency to separate. I've read this elsewhere. Any premium hollowpoint that feeds 100% is going to make someone think real hard about lying down for awhile.

I use Winchester PDX1. It is the rounds the FBI use and it is the round that came from Black Talon.

Im running 230 grain hornady critical defense through my sig c3 and was fortunate enough that my sig eats it flawlessly every time and that particular round is the most consistent in expansion and accuracy that I've tried, would recommend trying it to see how it performs in your weapon of choice
