I've decided to make more of a commitment to EDC, and the 4" XD45 just doesn't work for all occasions, so I finally took my first step into the world of micro guns today...two steps, actually. I went into the local shop and reserved a Kimber Solo Carry. I'm not too big on being a crash test dummy, but early indications look like it'll be a great gun. All the hype has me a little concerned that if I don't get in line now it will turn into a very long wait. I'm leaning toward the stainless, but they're scheduled to get a few of each finish. They called Kimber and were told it'd be 2-3 months before they arrive. April probably. So to cover my subcompact needs until then I went ahead and added a KelTec PF9. I'll get out in the next week or so and try to run about 200rds through it. I know these really need a good breaking in. It'll probably take time to work up some skill with these, as all of my previous experience is with full-framed pistols. That, and the KelTec trigger isn't the most pleasant out there. But that was a sacrifice I was willing to make for a solid and affordable fill-in until the Kimber arrives.
