Before I bought my first Glock, I had serious reservations about recoil in a polymer pistol. I shot a 1911 for many years and it weighed 38 oz unloaded. The Glock 21 is about 22 oz unloaded. My thoughts were ...Ouch!! My first Glock was a 17 Gen3. It is one sweet shooter. A guy at the shooting range let me shoot his Glock 22. It was really nice and felt like my 17. The 40 S&W kicked about the same as the 9mm...COOL 3 weeks later I bought the Glock 21 Gen4. Before the first shot, my hands were a little jittery. After the first shot, I said, "damn!" It felt just like my 9mm. I was smiling ear to ear. I was amazed that the recoil felt no worse than the 9mm. How does Glock do that? So if anyone is contemplating a 40 S&W or 45 ACP but have concerns about recoil...DON'T.
