How often would one recommend the taking apart and cleaning of a glock pistol?
I have put close to 1500 rounds threw 4 mags and haven't even really thought about it yet. But that's just me
I stand corrected. For some odd reason i thought u meant the clips. I usually do I quick cleaning or the exterior after every shooting. And do a complete take down cleaning after the 4th or 5th.
Same here dont worry to much about cleaning them as they really dont get that dirty IMO...
Magazines do get dirty.
ALTHOUGH I've never experienced a glock brand magazine failure. I have NEVER cleaned a Glock mag, and I shoot my G34 alot more than most of you shoot at all.
Have you dropped it in the mud or some chocolate syrup? Then you should probably clean it. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. The average shooter won't run into problems resulting from a Glock dirty mag; that is assuming you stay away from non-jacketed lead ammo and super dirty russian ammo.
I only clean my mags when there is an absolute need, like if shooting a stage where the magazines fall in mud or dirt. However, I can say its wise to clean the mags at least once a year......which i haven't done, I must confess.I have some dedicated magazines used for holding my carry rounds which I do not mix with my sport training magazines.
If I'm not mistaken, the glock manual suggests mag cleaning every 4-5 months, I believe. I dont have it right here next to me.
