Hey guys I've got a buddy that lookin to get rid of his glock 31 (357 sig) barrel for pretty cheap. From what I understand I can drop that barrel straight into my glock 22 and use the glock 22 mags and no other mods are needed. Is this correct? Is it worth buying so I have that option? Also what do you guys think about the 357 sig compared to the .40?

The 357 sig is a hotter round by about 300 feet per second and will still have enough energy to kill a man at 100 yards. As for will it, yes it will and take the exact same mags. I used have g32 and still have my g23 and all the parts were interchangeable.

Their is very little recoil difference, but accuracy, distance, and penetration the 357 sig has it hands down.

Just swap barrels and you're good to go. I can't speak on how the g22 shoots for you but mine shot low and left till I drifted the sight, and the 357 sig should do the same but not as much.

Most guns including Glock will be interchangeable between 357sig and 40sw, so long as the conversion barrel length matches the frame size (sub-comp/comp/standard). The mags are the same, so all you need is the conversion barrel.

If the price is right, have at it. If I had a Glock 22 or 23, I'd probably have a conversion barrel or two for it. They're available from Lone Wolf new for $100-125. 40sw Glocks can easily and affordably be converted to 357sig or 9mm. That's one trait I really like about Glock.

Some people prefer the 357sig to 40sw as a carry, home defense, or hunting BUG (due to increased velocity and flatter trajectory)...and you'll be able to shoot the cheaper 40sw at the range.

I personally would get the Glock barrel from your friend, cause I've seen a lone wolf barrel in 357 sig and cut ramps at the wrong angle. At least with the you know it be a good fit and feed.

A friend of mine bought a lone wolf barrel for his g23, and it would not cycle or feed. I compared it to my g32 barrel and the ramp was cut completely wrong. It shot but he had to load the bullets one at a time through the ejection port.

Trust your first idea and get your friends barrel or at least swap and try it. I think you'll like the ballistics of the 357 sig. A ex-coworker of mine used hog hunt with G23 with 357 Sig barrel, his thoughts were the 357 Sig is great for penetrating the thick skulls or blowing the heart out of the pigs.
