Has anyone seen these or tried them out? I just saw an ad for these is shotgun news magazine. It's a pretty versatile idea because you can get a different caliber upper than your glock. I don't think I would do it but I think it's pretty neat anyways. Also available for 1911 pistols. (I tried to attach a pic not sure if it will work.)

From www.mechtechsys.com :
Glock upper'BASIC UNIT' It consists of a 16+" barrel, internal slide, recoil spring, cocking handle and what you see externally. The basic unit is NOT a firearm and needs no special licensing to purchase! What do you need? You need a Glock or 1911 pistol. What do you need to do? Field strip your pistol. This will separate the 'top end' assembly from the frame or 'lower'.
Now you slide the pistol lower into the Upper 'BASIC UNIT'

I looked at that awhile. I decided on a Sub 2000 instead.

I just thought it was interesting.
Indeed, this is a great idea, I hope we see more of these types of conversions.

I wouldn't mind seeing an integral suppressor upper configured as a pistol.
Sure it would add $200 bucks, but picture the upper with only 1/2 inch protrusion from the foreward grip / guard.

9mm 30rds would make a nice plinker.

I won't do it, but certainly would like to see more conversions available.

I always liked the idea of making your Glock into a carbine, but then once you do this I think you have to re register your weapon ??? I like sub2000 but it just looks so cheap looking... but they do work and are great shooters...

I tried the mako conversion kit with a G21 and red dot attachment, was thinking about getting one for my G17 for kicks because it was so tight and compact looking. Saw it at a new range I tried out loved the look in person, loved the feel of the fore grip... Until I fired it, very inaccurate, flimsy feel on fore grip on recoil. But the biggest flaw was being sprayed directly in the mouth with gunpowder residue on every shot. Looked cool but not worth reregistering your gun at all.
