I'll be picking up my first Glock in the next couple of weeks, a Gen4 G20. However, I know that with 10mm most factory loads are pretty tame. I also know that some guns have issues with shooting full power 10mm. Is the G20 one of those guns, or can I shoot some full power loads from a company like HPR and not worry about the gun?

Others may disagree, but I wouldn't chance high pressure loads out of a factory Glock barrel. Especially in a 10mm.

I'm not one of those that'll disagree with that...

I'd read the manual carefully, if you're still not sure, contact the manufacturer...

GLOCK usually specifically advises against shooting +P/+P+ and/or reloads (cast bullets in particular) through their firearms without significant modifications, (BBL/RSA), if at all...

Of course, I'm far from an expert so all I can really say with any certainty is be safe!!!

Oh, I would never shoot cast bullets from a Glock. But I'm looking at HPR which is said to hotter than buying something like Winchester white box. However, it doesn't say it's +P or +P+, neither of which I shoot in any of my guns in any caliber. I'm not a huge fan of it.

I just hear that most factory loads are pretty weak and that some, like HPR, even though they're not +P or +P+ are more potent.

I guess you could look for a pressure chart and compare it to loads known to be within the tolerances of that particular firearm...

Haven't really heard much about HPR but there's gotta be some ballistic info on it...right?

Worst case scenario, just make a phone call to Smyrna Ga...or...

Wait until Mountainman13 or Robocop10mm weigh in on the subject, IIRC they are the 10mm guys to talk to...

180 gr XTP @ 1270? Nice load specs. Not out of line with Winchester Silver Tip 175 gr @ 1290.

I would not have any reservations about shooting that through my G-20. There is no such thing as +P in 10mm. You have standard loads in this energy arena and Lite loads (subsonic)

Glock does NOT specify "no +P" in any of their pistols.

I use Silvertips in my Delta Elite and G 20 with no issues other than hard to find and hard to pay for! The 180s from Double Tap run close to the same MV so doubt if they would be a problem. Don't know anything about the light weight screamers, that's just not what I bought the 10mm for.

The Glock 20 was designed to digest many thousands of rounds of 10mm ammunition without issue.

As long as the ammo falls within the SAAMI pressure range, (and commercial ammo better for safety & legal reasons) I wouldn't worry about feeding it to a G20.

    Love my G20!

I generally do not shoot anything under 1100fps.

Mine has digested many, many rounds. I do however use a 20# recoil spring. Your gun will last.

Thanks for all the info everyone! This sure helps. Especially since I picked it up today. Now I just need to grab some ammo for it.
