Im looking for some options on a 45.acp. My wife's birthday is coming up and when I ask her what she would like, her answer is "I dont need anything". She showed interest in the Kimber Raptor a short while ago. But right now that's a lil out of the budget. She likes full size, all metal frame. Even though she has a 380ez. She also has a 9mm Smith pro series 1911. Looking for some options on a nice 45 that wont break the bank.. Thanks in advance.

You can usually pick up a nice used 3rd gen S&W 45 auto for under $600. The 4506 is one fine pistol. Then again Rock Island makes some nice 1911s that are reasonable and highly thought of.

There's a 4516 S&W on brokegunner at $300 right now that got me drooling. Wish I'd never seen it.

What’s the budget? Without a target we’re just shooting in the dark (pun intended).

I'm a moron, I posted this twice. I'm trying to get the other one deleted.. I believe it should be here, not the other place....

Anyway, on the other post there was 3 votes for Rock Island A1...
Just sharing other people's thoughts.. They seem credible ideas.

Personally, I've never fired a Rock Island.

Yes sir. Agreed... $500 would be great, but could scrimp another 100 or 2..

New, probably an RIA. A lot of gun for the money. BUT, I’d also consider a used gun too. A lot of gently used Kimbers and SAs out there in your price range. Many of them basically brand new in the box. BTW I picked up a brand new Kimber Ultra Raptor for just a little over $800 with some really careful shopping.

Deals are out there. Your budget is enough for something nice. Look at Springfield Loaded too. I’ve seen LNIB in the $650 range pretty often.

Just did a quick search in Gunbroker for Kimber .45 and listed them by price low to high and found about 10 great deals in your price range!

I'm going to say, close to 3000 rounds through it. Flawless.. Just short of a couple non firing rounds of course.

That’s pretty!!!! Mines a Ultra Raptor with Mammoth Ivory grips. 100% reliable and stupid accurate from the box.

Very nice.. I took this particular firearm for my CCW class. The instructor and a couple other students commented on the grouping I was achieving.. After class, they wanted to check it out. I had a gitte moment that day.

    PS, A'ed the class.
