Can someone provide details on how to get a Class 3 license.

Does ANY police record prevent you from obtaining one?

The local sheriff has to approve the application at his discretion which means he can turn it down for any reason. Some sheriffs deny all requests, remember they are politicians.

The $200 tax stamp is chicken feed concidering how much the firearm is going to cost you. The price for a class 3 weapon is sometimes 10 times what the semi-auto version costs. Supply and demand.

    Sheriff Turn Down:

Based on the Supreme Court decision where some MORON Sheriff turned down the KKK on a parade application, because he wanted to, rather than a lawful reason, and was represented by the ACLU (strange bedfellows).

It is the law of the land. The Sheriff MUST accept and review the application AND cannot refuse to sign it unless he has LAWFUL Reason for DENYING you.
Discression is no longer in play.

Most Sheriff's and Police Chief's that pull the discression game AND become aware of this court case....immediately back off and sign off.

The Supreme Court ruled the Sheriff had acted out of the course and scope of his employment in denying lawful review of an application AND WAS PERSONALLY LIABLE for his actions ! The case ruled his employer was BARED from representing him OR paying his legal fees. GOOD CASE !

To get a Class III weapon you first find the one you want and buy it.

Some states will forbid you to own one. Go here to see...
    http://www.mp5.net/info/sbsconr.htm

Your dealer will help you fill out the paperwork to send to the ATF to pay your $200 tax. This is what you need to actually take possession. You own it but cannot take it home till the tax is paid.

If you have a corporation...you can skip the CLEO signature and photo requirement. Otherwise... you will need to have the Chief or Sheriff sign off after checking you out.

Send it in with a copy of your prints and wait.

I have a corporation Mine was approved in 15 days.

Price will be high so expect to pay several thousands for it.

    Here are the average prices....
