We had a succesful social hunt in Kusel. Fox (Fuchs), Roe Deer (Rehwild),
Fallow Deer (Damswild) and boar. After the ceremony we ate at a gasthaus and drank a lot. What more could you ask for.

That is a lot of animals. What are you gonna do with 'em?

When the locals have finished dividing up all the organs, what do you do with the meat? No offense and none taken. :)

On this hunt, the revier owners kept the meat. The hunters who actually harvested the animals kept the organs and trophies. You can buy the animal you shot, or part of it. A Roe deer costs about 40€. Each hunt is different though, but this is the norm. The fox are skinned, or buried. You can take it home without cost. Looks like a lot of animals, but Germany is way over populated. The animals are damaging the land and trees. The fox are killing off live stock and smaller animals. Only 2% of the German population hunts.

That sounds like a badass fox. Over here they are tiny and adorable, sometimes mischievous egg thieves.

Saw one last fall that was so mangy, the only fur left was on its tail. Did not look adorable, I am curious how it faired this winter?

Not knowing how large the property is Jäger was hunting, it seems to be densely populated with fox.

Hey Jager, I counted approx. 30 pairs of feet in the photos. How many shooters, how many drivers and how many hounds participated in the hunt?

Gut Gemacht!

I'm glad that Germany still allows hunting.
Drink one for me!

There are drivers/beaters in there too with their dogs. Maybe 15 drivers and 10 dogs. Do not remember the numbrs of hunters though. We were stretched between three reviers. Not all the hunters came to the ceremony or the dinner afterwards. Sorry.

Lambs and small game are the normal victims. I am hunting fox on farmer's land on a weekly basis because of the loss in lamb meat. I can shoot boar for free by helping.

Not much on eating guts Jager,,, mind you, if I were in a hunger crisis or something I know eat the Hell out of them, but I'll stick with deer steaks and boar sausage, etc. And yes,, I have tried the various organs you have mentioned plus more,, my father being from Kentucky ate everything except the damn hooves it seemed and we also had to eat at least a small portion or accept the consequences. Deep fried, sliced bull testcles actually don't taste bad at all,, but I don't eat them either. I have never cultivated a taste for organs but I eat crawdads, frogs, and various other things that a lot of folks think is strange.Good Hunting.
