Just turned 21 and I can't decide weather I should go with the G22 or G 23 I just want it for home protection and the range maybe once or twice a year.

If its just for those purposes, why not get the fuller framed 22? I mean if size is no object. More rounds in the 22 factory mag too...

The G22 is the full size .40 S&W. Remember you can buy
a .357 Sig barrel for the G22 and have two calibers to
    play with.

For range and home defence, The full size G-22 hands down. more control, higher mag capacity, less felt recoil, more accurate at longer distances. With the reight holster, you can even carry it for CCW. My G-22 is my primary carry.

It doesn't matter, hell, some people will tell you the gen3 is the better pick of the two. The classic "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach. I have both gen3 and gen4 and the only advantage I get is the interchangeable backstraps on the gen4. The grip stippling doesn't matter cause I use a grip glove by pachmayer anyways. Have no fear on the gen3.

Just got my tax money back, and made up my mind to buy a glock in 40 s&w. i cant make my mind up as well the G22 or G23c. Things to consider I have my ccw. But am very happy with my light keltec pf9. I also gave a xd9 sub compact, judge public defender, and a sig 1911 22lr. If the G23 is easy to conceal I would perfer it then. But now I didnt know in G22 u can get .357 sig barrel. Thats awsome. Any input would be great.

Great idea! Or go for the trifecta like I did: first got a G22, then G23 and finally a G27. :D

I was looking at the new CDNN catalog that came today and they have LE trade-in G22 Gen 3s with night sights for $370 in very good to excellent condition. They also have G22 Gen 2s without NS for $340 in the same conditon but the extra $30 is worth it.

Range once or twice a year? I would highly recommend that you practice much more often. When you need that gun to defend yourself muscle memory will take over...trust me. Lots of range time and training is the only way to make this happen.

Now, onto the Glock...if you're not wanting to carry it concealed I would just go with the full size G22.

WOW, just once or twice a year? Dont be surprised if you get addicted after the first time:). But if your absolutely positive you wont really be shooting, the G22 will work. In all honesty, study the G23 too because if ever you decide to get a ccw and carry, the G23 is slightly better suited for that because its a compact.

Bought my first glock today. Decided to get to G23. Got it used and it looks new. Paid $450. I think its my new fav gun. Im able to conceal it pretty well being that its winter here in Minnesota.
