I have the opportunity to buy a G22 and I would like a general idea as to what it would sell for. It is used, several thousand rounds run through it, but in great condition.

Law Enforcement trade-in G22s go for about $350. Gen 2 and 3. If yours is really nice maybe a little more. Gen 4 probably would go higher too.

    What distinguishes the different generations?

I borrowed this from another website.

    Easily observed differences:

-1st generation smooth grip no finger grooves no rails
-2nd generation textured grip no finger grooves no rails
-3rd generation textured grip finger grooves accessory rails. Loaded chamber indicator incorporated into the extractor

Viking, one thing to remember since you brought up G22, there are no Gen 1 G22s.

Look guys, I only own one Glock right now. I am not a collector or anything. I have an opportunity to purchase a G22 and I just need to know what the ballpark price would be so I know where to negotiate from. I'm not asking for any commitment or anything, just a ballpark number. So far Quentin says $350 or a bit more (thanks Quentin). I am not buying it from you I am just asking what a fair price would be.

I paid $330 for a used G26 in excellent condition. I would say anything under $350 is a good price for a used glock in good condition. Depends if it's an individual or a gun shop though. Trade in would be about $250 and gun shops will sell for around $350-$400.

Right, Glock had already moved into Generation 2 by the time their 40S&Ws were released (1990). So no Gen 1 40s.

I'd agree with this. And of course if the gun has good night sights that can add to the cost. The LE trade ins have night sights but they can be getting weak due to age.

A month ago I bought a 2004 G27 for $300 and thought it was a very good price.
