David Silverian of Korn, Matt McDonough of Mudvayne, Vinnie Paul Abbot of Pantera. Three of my favorites.

LOL! I think Lars is overrated. Out of the list Carman Appice would have to be the better drummer. Not a lot of flash but rock steady and has a serious groove. The Beck-Bogart-Appice album being a great example.

I wonder where are Carl Palmer, John Bonham, Bill Ward, Ginger Baker, Keith Moon just to name a few. AS someone that has spent a pretty big part of their lives playing drums I have an appreciation for anyone that can sit behind a kit for a couple hours while making body parts do things that just don't seem natural when you look at it. A drummer makes or breaks a band for me. THere's been plenty of bigger name bands that I went to see that I would refuse to listen to because of a drummer that had troubles keeping time let alone performing a decent fill here and there.

Old age and medical problems keep me from playing for the most part any more but I still have an old Pearl kit that's set up and I will get back there for a few minutes now and then. Only shooting is a similar stress reliever for me.

    DJ,

Lars 'overrated'? How about Lars got rich and lazy. Listen to Ride the Lightning. Heck even up to Justice, he was very good. Once he made the fame and got the payoff, he turned to the lazy side and concentrated on the $.

Who was the drummer for Iced Earth?

Out of this list I have to go with Ringo. I've heard by far the most of him and he had a tasty little back beat thing he did.

Tango, what do you like? Any time the talk comes around to Metallica, you get so negative.

Metalica gets CRANKED only if it is a song from BEFORE that metrosexual offering they call The black Album.

Ride the lighting is still one of my favorite Metalica songs.

Danny Carey is by far the best drummer on that list. His odd, constantly switching time signatures and overall skill if so far beyond so many "rock" drummers out there it's insane. I've seen Tool live 3 times and he is flawless live as well.
