I picked up a Ruger new modal six dirt cheap, the reason, no front sight. Now my question, where would I find the proper point to drill and tap the placement screw hole?

Level the gun. Set replacement sight on barrel. Level front sight. Mark hole. Drill and tap.

thank you for the tip but, I am asking for proper spacing of the front sight, the measurement from muzzle back, I understand needs to be level and centered.

With a clean slate like that, you should be able to put it near the muzzle or back about 1/4".

Why not set the sight on it and ask opinions on how it looks better?

Ruger puts them almost flush with the muzzle.

What sight did you use? I have a similar issue where someone cut the front sight down for some kind of aftermarket sight. Any pointers you can give?
