I'm looking at the Yankee hill manufacturing diamond rail but have some questions.

I've never free floated a barrel, so what do y'all prefer? Mid length or rifle length? I have a 16" barrel.

Does the rifle length weigh significantly more than the mid length or is it negligible in the grand scheme of things?

To be honest I'm leaning towards the rifle length, since I think it would look better. But I would like to see y'all's thoughts on this before I go out and buy something. Thanks!

Rifle length. I have one and love it. It isn't the lightest, but it is rock solid. You can never have too much rail. I grab my rifle all the way out at the end sometimes, and with a shorter one I would run out of real estate

Only downside is if you have really small hands it's a thick rail to hold if you prefer the C grip. I can do it with small medium hands.

Good point, I didn't think of that. I have medium hands so I could probably use it fine. I'd go for a fortis rail but I can't justify spending $100 more haha. Thanks for the input.

Check out the Samson Evolution rail. Not heavy and very very comfortable for any sized hands.

Take a look at the MI Gen 2 SS 12" rail, slender, strong and reasonably priced. I have 10", 12" and 15" rails for different applications, the 15" has night vision for Texas hogs who are shy in the daytime.

Also take a look at the MI Kmod rail systems. I have one on a PSA upper and love it. Its circumference is smaller than some others so it makes it easier and more comfortable to hold and accessories snap in place without the need for rails all over the place. I absolutely cannot stand quad rails.

Rifle length would give you a longer sight radius. +1 on a Kmod rail. They rock.
